What is the PMCP?

The Pre-Medical Clinical Program (PMCP) is designed to offer clinical exposure and mentorship to highly motivated sophomores and juniors who are interested in exploring the medical field. The program aims to enhance the pre-medical student experience at Georgia State University and increase their preparedness and enrollment in medical school. The PMCP plans to select students from a competitive pool of applicants to participate in the program, which includes shadowing physicians and receiving mentorship from various healthcare providers and medical students in the metro Atlanta area. The program intends to expand in the future to accommodate more pre-medical students who want to achieve their academic and professional goals.

Mission

Modeled after successful programs such as the Health Careers Mentorship Program (HCMP) at the University of Texas, Austin and the Health Careers Exploration Program (HCEP) at Duke University, the PMCP aims to provide students with essential clinical exposure and mentorship necessary to cultivate a well-rounded profile desired by medical schools. The program strives to enhance the pre-medical experience at GSU and appeal to high school students. This program is designed to promote diversity and equity among all racial and ethnic backgrounds, supporting the creation of a more inclusive and representative healthcare workforce. The program targets highly motivated rising sophomores and juniors who seek to explore the medical field. We hope to expand the program in the coming years to accommodate more pre-medical students seeking to achieve their academic and professional goals.
